Welcome to Paine St, Maroubra
Where Art Deco character meets modern family living.
A thoughtful transformation.
A thoughtful transformation of a 1930s Art Deco semi, preserving the character that made this Maroubra home special while creating the space, flow and functionality needed for a growing family.
Old soul. New life. Rather than losing what made the home special, the renovation was designed around it. The original Art Deco brickwork remains a defining feature, while restored leadlight windows and period details celebrate its history. Behind them, contemporary materials, clean lines and warm timber finishes introduce a distinctly modern feel. Careful attention was given to how old and new would come together, ensuring the transition feels considered and seamless. The result honours the home's heritage while adapting it beautifully for modern family life.
Designed around family life. The new layout creates distinct zones to relax, work, study and spend time together, while maintaining a sense of connection throughout. Higher ceilings, additional skylights and oversized openings enhance the sense of space and bring natural light deep into the home. An open-plan kitchen, dining and living area connects effortlessly with the outdoor entertaining space, deck and pool. Upstairs, additional bedrooms give the children spaces of their own, while thoughtful features — including built-in storage and a much-loved kids' cubby — make every part of the home work harder for the family.
The heart of the home. The kitchen sits at the centre of everyday life, flowing into the living and dining spaces before opening directly onto the outdoor entertaining area. What was once a smaller home with limited room to entertain is now a welcoming space designed for family gatherings, celebrations and everyday moments together.
The details make the difference. Some of the most impactful decisions at Paine Street evolved throughout the build. Additional skylights, oversized doors, increased ceiling heights and carefully considered finishes maximise light, volume and connection throughout. Warm timber cabinetry, natural textures, refined bathrooms and custom joinery bring cohesion to the contemporary spaces, while original architectural details ensure the character of the Art Deco home is never lost.
